PRESIDENT
Hunter Zager
president@stpetesunsetrotary.org
My name is Hunter Zager, and I am the President of this new and innovative Rotary Club of St. Pete Sunset. I first became involved with Rotary in 2002, when I traveled to New Zealand on a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship. In my year there, I not only received a degree from the University of Auckland in Public Health, but also fell in love with Rotary. I gained so many opportunities and experiences through my involvement with my host Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Ellerslie Sunrise, and host district. After returning to the U.S., I began assisting with the Rotary Scholars Seminar, an annual pre-departure orientation seminar for outbound Rotary Scholars from the southeast US and Caribbean, which I now help coordinate each June. I am excited to share the world of Rotary with others in St. Pete and am especially eager to reach out to other young professionals.
I graduated from Eckerd College with a B.S. in Biology, from the University of Auckland with a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health, and from USF with a Masters in Public Health. Currently, I work for the Florida Department of Health as the Regional Emergency Response Advisor for the eight-county Tampa Bay Region, and help keep our health and medical community prepare for and respond to emergencies and disasters.
SECRETARY
Carissa Payne
secretary@stpetesunsetrotary.org
My name is Carissa Payne, and I first became interested in Rotary as a teen when I was a member of my high school Interact Club. Now as an adult, I was “reintroduced” to Rotary when a few friends asked my husband and me to join in on an effort to create a young professionals club in Downtown St. Petersburg. I am excited to be involved in a club with so many enthusiastic young professionals with a focus on community service and outreach.
I graduated from Florida State University with a B.A. in German and Anthropology and then again with a M.A. in German Literature. After a few interesting twists and turns, I am now a Web Marketing Consultant for several online retailers all over the country, managing web marketing campaigns and distributing promotional materials to web-based partners. When not “Online”, I enjoy playing with my 2 dogs, reading, gardening and most recently cooking!
TREASURER
Owen Thanupakorn
treasurer@stpetesunsetrotary.org
My name is Owen Thanupakorn, I am the newly elected treasurer of the Provisional Rotary Club of St. Petersburg Sunset. I joined this club, not only because I wanted to be a part of a wonderful organization, but because I wanted to follow my mothers foot steps. She was a Rotarian in Thailand in the 70’s. I am a believer in the domino affect of change. My passion is to help people, not only in my community, but also in a place I call planet home. I bring to the table nine years of being in the financial industry as a financial specialist.

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR
Daphne Macfarlan

My name is Daphne Macfarlan and I am thrilled to be a part of our new Sunset Rotary Club! I have been involved with Rotary for the past few years, and in 2008 I was lucky enough to be selected to participate in Rotary’s Group Study Exchange Program. With 3 fellow teammates and a wonderful Rotarian Team Leader, I got to travel throughout the Caribbean for 1 month learning about the mission and family of Rotary. It was truly an incredible experience and inspired me to become part of this new club and take on the role of Membership Chair. I do hope you’ll come join us and check out our club!
I am a graduate of Eckerd College with a degree in Environmental Studies-Policy and Marine Science. Today, I work for the federal government as part of the Department of Commerce. I work for the NOAA Restoration Center and work with communities in Florida and in the Caribbean to restore, conserve and protect our coastal resources.
PROGRAMS DIRECTOR
Tami Shadduck
My name is Tami Shadduck and I am Programs Director. In 2008, I was invited by the East Lake Sunrise Club to guest speak about my job as a Sexual Health Educator with Planned Parenthood. After hearing that I had just returned from hiking the Inca Trail and that I was a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, the President of the club invited me to apply for the Group Study Exchange Program. Long story short, in the spring of 2009, I spent a month in the Philippines with a fantastic group of people. It was an incredible experience to see Rotary Clubs do so much for their communities, and when I returned home, I knew I had to be a part of Rotary. I am very excited to be a part of the St. Petersburg Sunset Rotary Club.
I graduated with a B.S in Psychology from Eckerd College and Master’s in Public Health Education from USF. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, and making pottery.
SPECIAL EVENTS DIRECTOR
Krystal Johnson
specialevents@stpetesunsetrotary.org
Hi! My name is Krystal Johnson. I am new to joining Rotary, and my position is Co-Chair of Special Events. I joined Rotary to join in the community service that they are famous for and for the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals. Giving back to the local community is very important to me. I have always believed that any person can change the world even if it’s done in small deeds. Rotary allows us to magnify that effect by focusing the small deeds of many people into large efforts. I graduated from USF with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Social Science. My professional background is Management and Sales. I have been in retail management since 2000, recently transitioning to wholesale this previous year. My major interests are world travel, Broadway, local art, and community projects.

My name is Kelly Weatherby and I am honored to have been with the Sunset Club since the very first meeting. I have been involved with Rotary for the past few years through programs offered by the Rotary Foundation. In 2008, I was chosen to be on a Group Study Exchange team that traveled throughout the Caribbean. The experience was a wonderful adventure and I came home inspired by the service, fellowship and friendship of the organization. I am so excited to have the incredible opportunity to be a part of building a new club in our community and creating the future of Rotary.
I graduated in 1997 with a BA in Communications from the University of Minnesota, and received a BFA in Graphic Design from The International Academy of Design in 2005. I am currently Senior Designer at a great design studio here in St. Petersburg, and am happy to say that I love what I do for a living. I have a passion for good friends, good music and good travels…and try to fill my spare time with things that allow me to be creative.
