AUGUST 2010

An Afternoon at Sally’s Cafe
www.uss.salvationarmy.org
The Cafe is a safe and dry place for those in need in our community to go on Sundays to get out of the elements, relax, and spend an afternoon in the company of others. Our club spent an afternooon at The Cafe to hanging out and chatting, playing games and enjoying the sweets leftover from our Bake Sale with the residents of the Salvation Army and some of St. Pete’s homeless. Both the club members and the Cafe folks had a great time and we look forward to doing it again!

MAY 2010

Salvation Army
www.uss.salvationarmy.org
The club spent the day helping the Salvation Army’s “Mama Love” sort and prep a whole bunch of food that was to be served to the residents and local homeless over the next few days. We also helped serve the lunch meal for that afternoon. As always, we had fun spending time together and left at the end of our shift feeling like we had made a positive impact in our community.
APRIL 2010

Habitat for Humanity Build
www.phfh.org
The club worked with Habitat for Humanity on a house in Largo. We helped erect the roof trusses and secured hurricane straps throughout the home. Everyone worked very hard and I think a great time was had by all. We will definitely be going back to help the folks at Habitat again very soon.
MARCH 2010

Alpha House of Pinellas County
www.alphahousepinellas.org
The club volunteered to help out at Alpha House of Pinellas County, where they are undergoing a bit of a facelift. Our efforts help keep the mothers and children of Alpha House healthy and happy. We had lots of fun painting a maze of hallways, making a bit of a mess and getting to know some of the newer members of our group.
