AUGUST 2010
An Afternoon at Sally’s Cafe

Mark your calendars for our upcoming service project at the Salvation Army Cafe. The St. Petersburg Corps of The Salvation Army was founded in 1912 and serves the poor and those in need with a ministry of programs and services designed to meet local needs. The Cafe is a safe and dry place for those in need in our community to go on Sundays to get out of the elements, relax, and spend an afternoon in the company of others. Our club will be going to The Cafe to hang out and chat, maybe play some games or listen to music, and just be there for some of St. Pete’s homeless, who may need someone to listen, talk or laugh with them. Gail, our wonderful contact at the Salvation Army, told our members, “I have found that the homeless respond best to people like you — people from the community who think they are worth listening to, spending time with, and encouraging.” We look forward to stepping up and making some new friends.
Please join us for an afternoon at Sally’s Cafe.
Date: Sunday, August 22nd
Time: 1230pm – 3pm
Where: 340 14th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL 33701
