Upcoming Service Opportunities

January 13th, 2012 by Adam No comments »

The service calendar is filling up.  We’ve committed to our community partners to help with or put on the following events:

February 12: Rotary Rocks the Half - If you’re not running, you’re cheering!  We need people to hold up signs along the path and talk about Rotary and the Children’s Dream Fund to the crowds.  Also, we need still need fundraisers!

March 10: Special Olympics - Come out and help us officiate the bocce ball event at the Area VI Special Olympics at Lakewood High.  If you were there last year, you know how much fun we had together and with the competitors!

April: Habitat for Humanity - Get your build on.  Do you like drilling, nailing and screwing?  This is the event for you.  Help us build a house for a deserving local family.

May 19: Ready for Life “Life Skills” Youth Council - This is our big project with Ready for Life; we need all hands on deck.  We’ll be putting on a life skills workshop for their youth council meeting. The service committee needs your input in curriculum development and help with teaching and other activities.

June 16: 2nd Annual Amazing Resource Race - Are you interested in learning what kind of resources are out there for kids aging out of the foster system?  You can find out all about them by working at a station or driving a team of youth in this fun competition.

Where: Downtown St. Petersburg (starting at Tropicana Field and finishing at the Pier)
When: February 12, 2012

Training

On Saturday mornings a group of runners/walkers will be meeting at 8:00am in the north side of the North Shore Pool parking lot.

As I sit here with my family and reflect on the incredible past year, I just wanted to take a moment and let you know how thankful I am for our incredible Rotary Club of St. Pete Sunset. I am honored to be surrounded every week by such incredible people, passionate hearts, and wonderful souls…

Thank you for all the contributions you have made to get us to where we are today, thank you for allowing me to lead this club as we grow and strengthen, and thank you for believing in our club which makes it such the incredible club that it is today.

Happy Thanksgiving to each of you and your families.
May you all share in extra hugs, smiles, and love on this very special day of the year.
Thank you,
Daphne
Club President

Ready for Life The Sunset Club is participating in the second annual Rally For Your Future event today! The event is being held at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium for the youth of the Ready for Life program, which reaches out to youth aging out of the foster care system between the ages of 15 and 22.
