Don’t Miss Out! This Week is our Club Assembly!

July 9th, 2011

This week’s meeting is our monthly Club Assembly! What does that mean? Well, it’s almost like our club business meeting. The new Rotary year just began on July 1st, so this week our meeting with focus on the year ahead. I’ll provide some input as to where I think we are headed; the committees will provide overviews of the exciting service projects, events, programs and speakers in the year to come; and we’ll have a discussion about the impact the Sunset Club is going to have on the local and global community. This is one meeting not to miss as we plan, scheme and dream the year ahead! Please join us for this meeting!

A Wonderful Installation

June 17th, 2011

Installation Dinner

The Installation Dinner last night was a lovely intimate affair, and everyone had a wonderful time. We had the chance to look back and remember all of the hard work and good times that brought us to where we are today, and to celebrate all of the friendships we have built along the way! We honored the outgoing officers and chairs, and welcomed incoming leadership to their new roles. Several members were recognized for extraordinary service and support of the club, and lots of pins, medals and awards were presented. Thanks to the St. Pete Yacht Club for hosting us, and to the distinguished District guests who joined us. Looking forward to a new year with lots of new and exciting things to come!

Congratulations Sunset Club!

Raising Our Hands for Education

April 29th, 2011

United Way LogoThe Sunset Club had a GREAT speaker last night from United Way of Tampa Bay. Afira DeVries, VP of Resource Development, gave us a thoughtful program about children and education in our community and around the country. She challenged our members to ‘Raise Our Hands for Education’ ~ not a pledge to give money, but a pledge to give time. Spending an hour reading to young children, volunteering at a school or other seemingly small ways in which you can make a big difference. Many of us made the pledge to stand up for education in our community. Will you?

Our First Sunset Meeting Crash!

April 15th, 2011

St. Pete Crash

Crash LogoThe Sunset Club is starting a new thing we call Sunset Meeting Crashes. The idea is to get a bunch of our members together and “crash” another meeting somewhere in the district. This encourages our members to get out there and get to know Rotarians in other clubs, see how different clubs run, and hopefully get them in the habit of attending outside meetings occasionally. We had our first official “Crash” today at the Rotary Club of St. Petersburg meeting at Orange Blossom.

The Sunset Crashers had a great time (and a great meal!) spending their lunch breaks getting to know some of our sponsor club’s members and listening to a wonderful speaker from the Harbordale YMCA. A warm thank you to the St. Pete Club for having us!

Stay tuned to see where the Sunset Crashers turn up next!
